Total Sales Of CD Projekt’s The Witcher Series Have Surpassed 25 Million

From its inception close a decade ago all the way up to 2015's critically acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt's RPG series has sold a total of 25 million copies across three games, the developer has announced via a summary of its financial results for the past year. As if that wasn't already impressive enough, the studio also confirms that revenue generated by The Witcher 3 and its expansions alone topped 1 billion PLN (approximately $253 million) in just a year and a half, financial success which has enabled the Polish developer to try its hand at new projects, including the previously announced Cyberpunk 2077.

Considering that the final part of the fantasy trilogy is often considered to be one of the finest video games of the current generation – and a bar in which the quality of all subsequent RPG’s have been measured against – it’s not altogether unsurprising that the final chapter in Geralt’s story has been such a standout success for CD Projekt, but it doesn’t plan to put the brand to rest just yet.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, which is currently in closed beta on Xbox One, PC and due to begin imminently on PlayStation 4, is still on course for a full release in the latter half of 2017, says Adam Kiciński, President of CD Projekt, with another “crucial” round of beta tests scheduled to kick off sometime in the spring.

As for a direct sequel to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt has neither confirmed or ruled out a return to the series, but considering Geralt’s story has concluded, it’s probably best not to expect a sequel, at least not for the foreseeable future.
