Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Concept Art Reveals A More Comic Book Accurate Doomsday

By now, I'm sure we all have our varying opinions when it comes to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but I hope that many of us can agree in saying it was nice to finally see the Man of Tomorrow have a villain that's a great physical foil for him in the live action realm that wasn't Zod. Well, kind of. He was created from the general's corpse in this interpretation, after all.

By now, I’m sure we all have our varying opinions when it comes to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but I hope that many of us can agree in saying it was nice to finally see the Man of Tomorrow have a villain that’s a great physical foil for him in the live-action realm that wasn’t Zod. Well, kind of. He was created from the general’s corpse in this interpretation, after all.

Although the brute’s backstory is much too convoluted for a standalone film and was thankfully streamlined for casual moviegoers, his overall look has remained a hot topic for discussion in the past year. Not too long ago, we did get a glimpse of some concept art that revealed a character design with more bone protrusions, which, let’s be honest, is a bit more accurate to the source material. Still, that doesn’t stop the most devout of fanboys from claiming that we saw on the big screen was enormously faithful because to say otherwise would be, you know, blasphemy.

Now, in the latest in the line of what-could-have-beens, trivia fans such as myself are spoiled by concept artist Jerad S. Marantz’s recent Instagram posts showing his unused designs for Doomsday. I actually find it quite unfortunate that the studio didn’t opt to go for these because they’re so much like what the comic books had to offer. Seriously, if you’re still alleging that what we got was better by comparison, that’d be tantamount to watching the ill-fated Birds of Prey television series and saying, “Now that’s what I call Huntress and Harley Quinn!”

Tell us, would you have preferred to have seen any of the above designs in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice? Or are you okay with what we were given? Sound off in the usual place below!
