There’s A Very Good Reason Marvel Hasn’t Revealed The Title Of The Fourth Avengers Movie

When Marvel Studios revealed its Phase 3 slate, Avengers: Infinity War was listed as "Part 1" and "Part 2." That's since changed, of course, and to date, we still don't know what the sequel to the film will be called. But why? Well, as many fans suspected, there's actually a very good reason for it not being revealed just yet.

When Marvel Studios revealed its Phase 3 slate, Avengers: Infinity War was listed as “Part 1” and “Part 2.” That’s since changed, of course, and to date, we still don’t know what the sequel to the film will be called. But why? Well, as many fans suspected, there’s actually a very good reason for it not being revealed just yet.

In a recent interview to promote the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige stated that telling us the title of the film would give away far too much about what the plot of the sequel entails. Not only that, but when he was pushed for details on whether or not Thanos will appear in the flick, he said only that they’re “two very different movies.” Could it be that the Mad Titan is going to be dealt with in Avengers: Infinity War then, only for someone else to take centre stage in the follow-up?

We’ll just have to wait and see, but it’s possible that Marvel could have regained the rights to characters like Galactus or the Silver Surfer, and Thanos will be a placeholder of sorts until a much larger threat arrives on the scene. That would certainly shock fans and could be an even bigger game changer than the Mad Titan being the sole focus.

Of course, this begs the question of when exactly Marvel will choose to reveal the title. If it contains a spoiler, then Comic-Con is highly unlikely, so there’s a chance we’re going to have to wait until Avengers: Infinity War is released next May to find out what the sequel is called. Perhaps it’ll even be revealed in the credits? Time will ultimately tell, but you can color us intrigued.
