Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Featurette Looks At The Sequel’s Unconventional Family

The central theme of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 very much seems to be family, with the focus not just on the titular team, but also Star-Lord and his father Ego, and sisters Gamora and Nebula. That's something which is explored in this new featurette for the sequel, as it takes a look at the loveable characters who make up this wildly entertaining and very unconventional family.

Featuring fresh behind the scenes footage from the upcoming blockbuster, the cast also weighs in on what’s to come here, with Dave Bautista (Drax) explaining why the team doesn’t need to be an actual family to share that unique dynamic (which is also something that separates this group from The Avengers).

“To me, this is more of a relationship film, and your family doesn’t always have to be blood. it can be chosen,” says the actor.

By far, the most exciting relationship which will be explored in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the one between Star-Lord and Ego the Living Planet. While most of us have assumed that the latter will be an antagonist, if he and Peter are on the same page by the time the credits roll, that could change not just the direction of this particular franchise, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. After all, Ego would be a good ally to have in their corner in the battle against Thanos, don’t you think?

We’ll just have to wait and see how the character’s arc plays out, but if nothing else, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 promises to do the concept of family justice when it blasts into theatres on May 5th.
