Director Neil Burger has really started to make a name for himself in recent months. Limitless opened to respectable numbers at the box office in addition to great reviews and it recently made its way to Blu-ray.

Coming off of the success of Limitless was the announcement of Neil Burger directing Sony’s video game adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, after David O. Russell left the project.

Now Deadline is reporting that Burger is in talks with screenwriter Sheldon Turner and producers Sean and Bryan Furst and Marissa McMahon to bring another version of Bonnie and Clyde to the big screen.

Rights have been acquired for the book Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde, by Jeff Guinn. The book is said to be far less romantic than the 1967 film and it changes a few details about the main characters, like Bonnie possibly being a prostitute before meeting up with Clyde.

Neil Burger isn’t 100% committed to the project yet, due to his previous agreement with Sony for Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Turner will be writing the script before directing By Virtue Fall later this year. So while nothing is for sure, one thing is positive and that is a new Bonnie and Clyde film is slowly prepping.

I’ve never actually seen all of the original film and I don’t really care to. I’m sure it’s great, but it just doesn’t look like my type of film. That being said, if this new project does find legs fast then I will be obligated to check out the original. What I want to know is what do the die-hard fans think of this news? Are you excited for another Bonnie and Clyde or do you think they should just leave the classic characters alone, as far as film is concerned?
