We Have Absolutely No Idea What’s Going On In This Trailer For 2:22

I’ve just watched the newly released trailer for 2:22 and honestly, I’m really confused. At first it looks like your typical badass air traffic controller flick, then it switches gears to a romance and then goes completely off the rails. Space trapeze artists? Cosmic explosions? VR Central Stations? A glass woman firing a gun? What the hell is this movie about?

If the function of a trailer is to intrigue the viewer, well, then mission accomplished – I genuinely want to know what the hell is happening here. From what I can tell, Michiel Huisman plays air traffic controller Dylan Branson, who seems to grasp some kind of invisible pattern that repeats every day, ending at exactly 2:22 in the afternoon. Apparently, the stars have something to do with it and he must then “take control of time itself.” Teresa Palmer seems to be skeptical of the whole thing, acting about how you’d expect if your bearded new boyfriend suddenly claimed he could understand the invisible structure of the universe and didn’t appear to be stoned out of his gourd.

It’s the work of Australian director/producer Paul Currie, who doesn’t appear to have directed much of note but has a producer credit on Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge. If he’s trying to make a name for himself, then a bonkers science fiction action seems like a pretty good way to go about it.

2:22 doesn’t have a release date as of yet, but this trailer’s definitely, got our attention and we’ll be sure to let you know when more on the film surfaces.
