Our first look at Star Wars: The Last Jedi came via a very intriguing teaser trailer back in April, but Vanity Fair has now revealed four incredible magazine covers by photographer Annie Leibovitz. As you can see in the gallery above, they feature almost all the main cast members, each one providing a stunning shot of the actors in costume.
Luke Skywalker and Rey feature on the first, while the villains – Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma and General Hux – are on the second. The interesting thing about the latter group is that we see Gwendoline Christie’s Phasma unmasked here, a sign perhaps that she’ll be showing her face in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Next up is BB-8, Poe Dameron, Finn and Rose, a new character being played by Kelly Marie Tran. Not much is known about what she’ll be getting up to in the film, but it was revealed at Star Wars Celebration that she and Finn will be linked in some way. Color us intrigued.
Finally, the fourth cover features General Leia Skywalker, something which feels appropriate after the sudden death of Carrie Fisher late last year.
While the covers we see here may not reveal any plot details, they’re all gorgeous and the changes to the costumes and appearances of each hero and villain are certainly worth discussing. Plus, it looks like the next phase of the marketing campaign is getting ready to kick into gear now, so we should be seeing more soon.
Until then, tell us, what do you think of this new look at Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi? Sound off in the usual place with your thoughts!
