Konami has revealed that the UK and European launch date for PES 2012 is October 14th across all platforms. Konami has revealed that the UK and European launch date for PES 2012 is October 14th across all platforms. PES has been in the shadow of FIFA consistently for the past few instalments; both EA and Konami bring out an update for their football game each year, and commercially EA has been dominating the sports genre for quite some time. FIFA seems to have hit all the right buttons for football fans, and the franchise is still going strong even now.

Critics note how Pro Evolution Soccer seems to be forever playing catch up with its rival franchise, and how the series would do well to take a few years off to reinvent its gameplay to bring a new life into it, and to heal its damaged reputation.

Konami are refusing to back down this year however, but perhaps when the sales figures come in after 2011’s Christmas, the PES team will finally hold back before trying to score big against the king of the genre again.

The publisher is bravely claiming that PES 2012 is the “most ambitious and advanced football game ever”.

We’ll have to see abou that.
