Queen Mera Calls Upon Her Superhuman Abilities In Leaked Aquaman Set Video

Queen Mera of Atlantis calls upon her superhuman abilities in this leaked Aquaman video, which was taken on the film's Gold Coast set.

With great power comes great responsibility, as a wise old man once said, but sometimes you have to call upon those superhuman abilities to put drunk fools back in line.

And that’s exactly what Queen Mera (Amber Heard) can be seen doing on the set of Aquaman. Warner Bros. and James Wan’s DC tentpole continues to lens Down Under, and after Heard herself offered up a behind-the-scenes snap of Mera and Arthur Curry between takes, YouTube user ‘bigfootkam’ has published a video of Mera in action outside The Sunken Galleon. Fast forward to the 1:10 marker and you’ll see a drunken man approach the Queen of Atlantis, only to have his beer explode at the flick of a wrist. Make no mistake, folks, Mera is not to be trifled with.

Following up on his experience helming Furious 7 for Warner Bros., this is James Wan’s first foray into the ever-evolving DC Extended Universe. On board to help the director achieve that vision – a vision that will purportedly portray Arthur Curry’s origin story as a family saga – are Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Ludi Lin as Murk, The Conjuring alum Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, and Michael Beach as Jesse Kane.

Aquaman touches down in theaters on December 23rd, 2018. And though that may seem far away, moviegoers can look forward to Jason Momoa’s King of the Seven enlisting under the Justice League on November 17th of this year.

Avengers director Joss Whedon is the one helping DC’s mega-budget ensemble movie across the finish line, after Zack Snyder was forced to vacate the director’s chair last month to tend to a personal tragedy. It’s by no means Whedon’s only contribution to the DCEU, though, given he’s signed on to write, direct, and produce a live-action Batgirl spinoff for Warner Bros.
