Since the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok debuted back in April, it’s had moviegoers buzzing – and understandably so. Basically, if you’ve witnessed the footage we’ve been granted and have been keeping up with whatever news has come down the grapevine, then you’re well aware this film has two things going for it.

The first is pretty obvious: Hela has launched a full-scale attack on Asgard, seemingly bringing about Ragnarok, which in layman’s terms could be described as “the end of days” in Norse mythology. Thus, this truly feels like the culmination of everything Thor’s own story has had to offer the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In addition to that, the filmmakers have generously been influenced by the Planet Hulk storyline, something that becomes obvious after seeing the titular hero pitted against his “friend from work” in the Hulk within the confines of an arena on the planet Sakaar. So, even if you haven’t read the comic or seen the animated movie, you can’t deny the appeal that comes with seeing those two throw down.

Interestingly enough, that aspect of the flick seems to have greatly influenced the changing of its subtitle for the Japanese market. Aside from the series being dubbed Mighty Thor over there, it’s intriguing to note that the subtitle of “Ragnarok” has been jettisoned in favor of “Battle Royale.” With that, one could assume that the gladiator-style battles may take precedence in the film’s marketing in that territory.

And thanks to an Instagram post made by C.B. Cebulski, we can grant you this look at the Japanese poster for Thor: Ragnarok – or Mighty Thor: Battle Royale, if you prefer.
