After taking home the Grand Jury Prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, indie film Like Crazy has been gathering some strong buzz. Drake Doremus‘ feature length directorial debut stars Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones and Jennifer Lawrence and has thus far, been a festival darling.

The film revoles around two college students Jacob (Yelchin) and Anna (Jones). The two enter into a relationship which works out well, at first. As the two begin to fall in love, tragedy strikes. Anna, who is a British citizen, violates the terms of her Visa and must leave the U.S. The couple decides to remain together and attempt a long distance relationship.

The October 28th release date is still a ways away but like I said, there is some very positive buzz surrounding this one, mainly due to its showings on the festival circuit. It’s receiving fantastic reviews and critics are raving about it.

Yelchin looks to have solid chemistry with Jones, which is a must for a film like this and despite the emotionally heavy plot, this one looks alright. People are drawing similarities to Blue Valentine and I can see why they would.

Like I said, it looks fine, not something that I’d run out to theatres to see though. From the trailer alone, I can’t see what all the fuss is about. It looks like an average romance film that will likely find its niche.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

A love story is both a physical and emotional tale, one that can be deeply personal and heartbreaking for an audience to experience. Director Drake Doremus’ film Like Crazy beautifully illustrates how your first real love is as thrilling and blissful as it is devastating. When a British college student (Felicity Jones) falls for her American classmate (Anton Yelchin) they embark on a passionate and life-changing journey only to be separated when she violates the terms of her visa.Like Crazy explores how a couple faces the real challenges of being together and of being apart. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Picture at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and of the Special Jury Prize for Best Actress for Felicity Jones, Like Crazydepicts both the hopefulness and the heartbreak of love.
