Now, however, there seems to be a glimmer of hope for horror fans. As it turns out, an international trailer (seen at the top) has made its way online, with The Awakening set to open in Brazilian theatres on August 31. Thankfully, this has been corroborated by Paris Films on their official Facebook page. In addition to that,  confirms an August 23 release in Italy.

Sure, those dates are subject to change because somebody at the top of the food chain seems to like messing with us all, but if indeed the movie finds its way into theatres later this summer in international markets, we can hold out hope that the same will happen in North America. After all, August tends to be a fine time to roll out at least a few horror flicks, as most of the major summer blockbusters have already come and gone. If not, then at the very least, we could be looking at a domestic direct-to-video release not long after.

Still, knowing how promo material featuring Bella Thorne has already been circulated, it would be wise for the studio to capitalize on her rising star, not to mention that of co-star Cameron Monaghan’s, by making sure Amityville: The Awakening sees the light of day.
