Joss Whedon Will Likely Get A Director’s Credit On Justice League

It’s hard to get a grasp on what’s true and what’s not on the subject of Joss Whedon’s role in the production of Justice League. Ever since Zack Snyder walked away from the film a few months ago, The Avengers director has stepped in to helm the reshoots. While some claim that these aren’t too substantial and the film is still very much Snyder’s baby, other reports state that Whedon and Warner Bros. are completely reshaping the movie with “extensive” extra filming.

While the jury’s still out on that one, it seems likely that Whedon will get a co-director’s credit now, alongside Snyder. The easily-missed news was revealed in the description of the new Justice League trailer on Warner Bros’ YouTube channel. Here’s how it reads:

“A film by Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon starring Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.”

Crediting Whedon in this way heavily suggests that he’ll likewise find his name on the movie when it’s released this November. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, either. After all, Whedon worked on Justice League for its final six months of production which, under the rules of the DGA (Directors Guild of America), likely makes it necessary for him to be credited.

Some fans, though, will probably read into this as further confirmation that the director is stealing away the movie from Snyder. Even though this is something that’s been denied by the Snyder himself and members of the cast. All we can say for sure about his credit is that Whedon’s simply getting his due for all the work he’s put in. Not only that, but he’s now the only director to date to helm both a major Marvel and DC film.

How much of his vision will be in Justice League remains to be seen, but we don’t have long to go before we find out, as Whedon/Snyder’s pic will hit theatres on November 17th.
