Originally brought to life by Tim Curry back in the ’90s, in resurrecting Stephen King’s literary horror classic for the silver screen, the Powers That Be have placed Bill Skarsgård (Hemlock Grove, Castle Rock) in the oversized shoes as that demented clown, one that’s able to shapeshift at will, manipulate those around it, and go unnoticed by adults. Exactly the kind of recipe that breeds nightmare fuel, then.

Expect to catch another glimpse of Pennywise peering out of the shadows later this week, and we’ll have full coverage here on We Got This Covered the moment that new and likely final trailer claws its way onto the interwebs. The real question is whether Andy Muschietti’s long-in-development adaptation can possibly live up to the hype; not only has each new trailer generated a metric ton of buzz, but Joe Hill, son of the legendary Stephen King, has gone on record to claim that It has the potential to enter horror’s pantheon as one of the scariest films ever made.

Going up against that transdimensional monster is a whole host of up-and-coming talent, including Sophia Lillis, Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor. Javier Botet will play The Leper, and Nicholas Hamilton plays Henry Bowers. The cast also includes Owen Teague, who plays bully Patrick Hocksetter.

Nipping at the heels of Sony’s rendition of The Dark Tower (August 4th), New Line and Andy Muschietti’s two-part It adaptation will get going in earnest when the first instalment, aptly titled It Part 1 – The Losers Club, creeps into theaters on September 8th.
