New Trailer For It Will Haunt Your Dreams Tonight

The third and presumably final trailer for It is now here and it's just as terrifying as we expected. You can take a look at it for yourself up above, but be warned, you may want to keep the lights on later tonight.

The third and presumably final trailer for It has stepped out of the shadows, and it’s just as terrifying as you’d expect. Fair warning: you may want to keep the lights on later tonight.

Offering up what is perhaps our best look at Pennywise to date, up above you’ll even hear Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd’s transdimensional being hissing a few words (“here, take it.”), before the creature begins to haunt the Losers Club one member at a time. Pushed to the fringes by neglecting parents and cruel bullies, the Losers Club band together through hardship, and when those blood-red balloons begin floating through the quaint town of Derry, Maine, it isn’t long before our pint-sized heroes begin to suspect that something is amiss. And it all circles back to Pennywise.

Originally brought to life by Tim Curry back in the ’90s, in resurrecting Stephen King’s literary horror classic for the silver screen, the Powers That Be have placed the aforementioned SkarsgÃ¥rd (Hemlock Grove, Castle Rock) in the oversized shoes as that demented clown, one that’s able to shapeshift at will, manipulate those around it, and go unnoticed by adults. Exactly the kind of recipe that breeds nightmare fuel, then.

Speaking of which, when it comes to It‘s scare factor, Andy Muschietti has already gone on record to say that his big-screen rendition is a no-holds-barred adaptation of the King classic, and that’s something that the author’s son, Joe Hill, echoed recently as well. In fact, Hill even went so far as to say that It ranks among the top five scariest movies ever made, and will join the likes of Jaws and The Exorcist in two months’ time. High praise indeed.

“Andres’ adaptation of IT is one of the 5 scariest films ever made. It’s tremendously humane. You love the characters in it. But it is just relentlessly terrifying. Only Jaws, The Exorcist, John Carpenter’s The Thing and Let the Right One In are scarier. It’s that good. It’s that brilliant.”

Casting-wise, New Line has gathered together the likes of Sophia Lillis, Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor, among many others.

It Part 1 – The Losers Club stalks theatres on September 8th, which is just four short weeks after the release of another King classic, The Dark Tower.
