Five Character Portraits For American Horror Story: Cult Peek Out Of The Shadows

Four new faces and an old AHS cohort feature in this new round of character posters for FX's American Horror Story: Cult.

The cryptic marketing campaign for American Horror Story: Cult, the latest instalment in FX’s anthology series that’s poised to whisk viewers off to a present-day setting, is in full swing, and with little over four weeks until season 7’s premiere, a series of suitably dark character posters have emerged online today.

In keeping with AHS‘ knack for secrecy and misdirection, a new promo was released alongside those neon posters, which featured a word scramble game designed to keep viewers on their toes. When deciphered, it read: “ABOVE ALL THINGS, HUMANS LOVE FEAR.” This, coupled with the promise of a story inspired by the 2016 Presidential Election, only has us all the more intrigued ahead of the show’s return next month.

Circling back to those character posters, though, and below you’ll catch a glimpse of Cheyenne Jackson as Dr. Rudy Vincent, Billie Lourd as Winter Anderson, Colton Haynes as Detective Samuels, Alison Pill as Ivy Mayfair-Richards and Billy Eichner as Harrison Wilton. Of the fivesome, Jackson is the only familiar face, having previously appeared in American Horror Story: Hotel and last year’s period piece, American Horror Story: Roanoke. Lourd, meanwhile, held a role in Ryan Murphy’s now-canceled Fox series, Scream Queens.

Beyond that, series stalwarts in the vein of Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lena Dunham, Emma Roberts, Frances Conroy, Mare Winningham, Adina Porter and Leslie Grossman are all on board to complete the ensemble, and given AHS‘ M.O., we imagine it won’t be too long before FX rolls out another helping of suitably dark one-sheets so that viewers have enough time to get acquainted with Cult‘s core players.

American Horror Story: Cult premieres September 5th sans Kathy Bates, who has parted ways with FX’s anthology series following a three-year stint that included award-winning performances in Hotel and Roanoke.
