We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of ‘Deadpool 2’ this morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.

Original story: Vancouver Police has issued a statement confirming the death of a female stunt driver on the set of action sequel Deadpool 2.

The unidentified victim was said to be performing a motorcycle stunt in and around Shaw Tower near Jack Poole Plaza when the accident occurred. Emergency services rushed to the scene, before local law enforcement reported the death via social media, stating, “Vancouver Police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of Deadpool during a stunt on a motorcycle.” No further details were made available at the time of writing.

Filming on Deadpool 2 initially kicked off back in June, when Ryan Reynolds and the crew took to the streets of Vancouver to capture scenes for the David Leitch-directed sequel. Production had been coming along at a brisk clip, particularly after the back-to-back unveiling of Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz), though one would assume 20th Century Fox will call a break in filming to accommodate today’s tragedy.

What we do know is that police have opened an investigation on the Deadpool 2 set. Eye witness reports claim that the victim didn’t activate the brakes in time before the motorcycle accident, though whether this is due to driver error or some unidentified technical fault is yet to be determined.

This is the second high-profile on-set death in North America in as many months. Back in July, production on AMC’s The Walking Dead ground to a halt after John Bernecker suffered fatal head injuries. Filming has since resumed ahead of the show’s return in October.

Deadpool 2 will be with us on June 1st, 2018. We will, as always, be bringing you all the latest as this story develops. Our very best goes out to those affected by this tragedy.
