Epic Justice League Concept Art Gathers DC’s Finest

This mythic piece of concept art by Craig Mullins assembles all of Justice League's key players: Bats, Supes, Diana, Cyborg, Aquaman, and The Flash.

As Warner Bros. continues to future-proof its prized DCEU with Joker origin stories and spinoffs featuring Jared Leto’s Clown Prince of Crime and his muse, Harley Quinn, the Justice League are quietly waiting for their time in the limelight.

Truth be told, it’s been a long, meandering journey to release. Back when the crossover project was first conceived, the Powers That Be over at Warner Bros. envisioned Justice League as a two-part epic – not unlike Avengers: Infinity War and its untitled sequel, which is currently shooting scenes in Atlanta – before it was announced that Zack Snyder’s ensemble piece would be consolidated into a single movie.

That was before the director stepped away from the DCEU to tend to a personal tragedy, leaving the door open for two-time Avengers helmer Joss Whedon. It’s a switcheroo that sparked heated debate online, though many of Justice League‘s leading stars – Gal Gadot included – have been quick to stress that Whedon is simply “fine-tuning” JL, rather than completely upending Zack Snyder’s groundwork.

And that’s just scratching the surface. Nevertheless, DC’s finest roster of heroes are now within touching distance of their big-screen crossover, and we couldn’t be more excited. And as November 17th draws near, CBM has relayed a new piece of concept art by Craig Mullins that unites the League.

Said to be featured at a special DC Comics art exhibit in Paris, this piece looks to have been produced fairly early on in Justice League‘s lifecycle. The tactical Batsuit, for instance, is much more robust and comic book-esque than the one seen in JL‘s trailers, while Cyborg’s biomechanical exterior – one that fuses man with machine – is also a little different than the one we’re used to.

At long last, Justice League is approaching the finish line ahead of its planned release on November 17th. But what do you make of today’s concept art? Be sure to drop your thoughts in the usual place.
