As we prepare for Wonder Woman to arrive on Digital HD on August 29th, a brief clip from a previously unseen Epilogue has now surfaced, and it focuses on the character of Etta Candy, played by Lucy Davis.
Details of the scene have already been announced, and it was actually teased earlier today, but this snippet is our first proper glimpse of a moment that’s potentially very significant for the cohesion of the DC Extended Universe. And that’s because it looks like the Epilogue is laying the foundation for Justice League.
Titled Etta’s Mission, the scene involves Etta Candy getting “the boys back together for a secret mission that could impact humanity’s future.” From the clip above, we can see that Sameer (Said Taghmaoui) and Charlie (Ewen Bremner) are the boys in question, and Etta seems to assemble them in the same London pub in which Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and Diana (Gal Gadot) found them in the movie. However, it’s what she says to the men that’s sent DC fans everywhere into a frenzy today.
As she sits down with them at the table, Etta mentions that “the powers that be found something.” She then continues on, saying, “It’s very old. It’s very powerful. They want us to recover the artifact and deliver it to the Americans. I mean, we don’t want it in the wrong hands.” The scene ends there, but it’s not hard to put two and two together here, right?
Most likely, Etta’s talking about a Mother Box, which are what Steppenwolf’s going to be after in Justice League. Split amongst the Atlanteans, Amazons and humans during a war long ago, Darkseid’s general is on a mission to reclaim them, and it would seem that, somehow, one of the Mother Boxes has ended up in Britain. Now, it sounds like it’s Etta’s job to get it out of there and to the US, for reasons unknown.
Of course, none of this has been confirmed just yet, but again, it’s pretty obvious that this is what’s going on here and with Wonder Woman‘s Digital HD release now only a day away, we’ll surely be learning more in the not too distant future. Until then, however, feel free to leave your own thoughts and speculation in the comments section.
