Get The Inside Scoop On Jon’s Letter To Sansa From The Game Of Thrones Season 7 Finale

Sansa Stark, acting Lady of Winterfell, received a letter from Jon Snow during Sunday's Game of Thrones finale, and we now have details of what it said.

Sansa Stark, the acting Lady of Winterfell, arguably took a back seat throughout Game of Thrones season 7, as series showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss directed the spotlight toward Westeros’ three bona fide power players: Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and Cersei Lannister.

Unsurprisingly, the latter two didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye when they meet in Sunday’s finale, “The Dragon and the Wolf,” and actress Lena Headey has gone on record to highlight the jealousy Cersei harbors toward the Mother of Dragons. Back in Winterfell, Sophie Turner’s series stalwart spent much of season 7 appeasing the northern lords – not to mention the Knights of the Veil – while reuniting with her two long-lost siblings, Bran and Arya.

Having returned from a long spell in Braavos, young Arya blew everyone away – Brienne of Tarth included – with her deft swordplay and razor-sharp perception, so it’s no wonder Littlefinger thrust a wedge between the Stark Sisters in the hope of elevating Lady Sansa to become the rightful Queen of the North. That subplot, one which admittedly dragged on a little longer than expected, ended in violence, but we’re now learning about the letter Jon Snow penned to Sansa to inform her that, yes, he’s bent the knee to Daenerys Targaryen.

Unveiled via the official Game of Thrones Twitter feed (with a tip of the hat to CBR), this piece of text is essentially Jon’s way of getting Sansa Stark up to speed, given the King of the North spent that vast majority of season 7 down in Dragonstone or battling Wights north of the Wall.

Here’s the solemn passage in full:

Sansa,

Cersei Lannister has pledged her forces to our cause, as has Daenerys Targaryen. And if we survive this war, I have pledged our forces to Daenerys at the rightful Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. We are both coming to organize the defense of the realm.

Jon Snow. Warden of the North.

The seventh, penultimate season of Game of Thrones ended in truly spectacular fashion with the premiere of “The Dragon and the Wolf.” From Eastwatch crumbling to Jon and Dany’s incestuous love affair, the foundations have been laid for an unmissable eighth season, and it’ll supposedly be with us in the summer of 2019.
