“It’s time for the Jedi…to end.”
Though that may not be Luke Skywalker’s first words in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Mark Hamill’s wise old Jedi Master has already caused quite the stir thanks to the sequel’s initial teaser, one in which Luke can be heard uttering that by-now famous line about the galaxy’s Force-wielders and, more specifically, the seemingly grim fate that awaits them.
Daisy Ridley’s Rey is one such Jedi ready to wage war against the First Order, and we know the Jakku native visits Luke Skywalker on the far-flung planet of Ahch-To to begin her training. Should those alleged story details hold true, Ridley’s heroine will leave the primordial rock upon hearing news that her Resistance allies – namely Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) – have been captured by the First Order, and are purportedly dragged kicking and screaming into the holding cells aboard that gargantuan Dreadnought.
That’s about all we really know in regards to the plot right now, but with the film’s marketing blitz just around the corner, more should be revealed in no time at all. If it’s new material you’re after though, then you’ll want to flip through the gallery below, as six pieces of promo art have surfaced online today, courtesy of artist Brian Rood.
Giving us new looks at General Leia, Luke, Rey and more, they might not provide any additional clues or hints as to what director Rian Johnson has planned for us, but Rood’s work here is very impressive and full of detail. Again, don’t expect to learn anything about the plot from these images, but they’re definitely worth a look if you need something to tide you over until the next trailer hits.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi lights up theaters on December 15th and is one of three major Star Wars projects in active development – the other two being Lucasfilm’s Han Solo origin story and the so-far untitled Episode IX. An Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff is also on the cards (finally!), though given it’s still in search of a writer and script, it’ll be sometime yet before Stewjon’s wise old Jedi Master returns to the fray.
