You’ve Gotta See These Photos From The All-Clown Screening Of It

In case you couldn't tell, It is kind of a big deal right now. As our own Matt Donato noted in his glowing review, Andy Muschietti's rendition of the Stephen King classic is an exercise in nerve-shredding tension, and it's a credit to the so-called Losers Club that It deftly balances horror and heart, even as Pennywise's reign of terror begins to reach its bloody conclusion.

In case you couldn’t tell, It is kind of a big deal right now. As our own Matt Donato noted in his glowing review, Andy Muschietti’s rendition of the Stephen King classic is an exercise in nerve-shredding tension, and it’s a credit to the so-called Losers Club that It deftly balances horror and heart, even as Pennywise’s reign of terror begins to reach its bloody conclusion.

As you’ve surely heard by now, the film smashed all sorts of records over the weekend, too. Biggest opening for a September/October release? Check. Biggest single day gross ever for an R-rated movie? You bet. Biggest non-holiday/long weekend R-rated debut of all time? Absolutely. Biggest opening for a horror flick ever? Yep. And the list goes on…

So, it would seem that It mania is sweeping the nation, and that’s no more evident than in the all-clown screenings that’ve been taking place. Yes, you read that right. Alamo Drafthouse has been hosting screenings where everyone who attends must be in full clown attire. There’s been a number of these going down across the country and thanks to Birth.Movies.Death, we now have some photos for you to dig into – and don’t worry, the clowns here are nowhere near as creepy as Pennywise.

Looks like a good time, right? And with the film only continuing to climb higher as far as buzz and word of mouth goes, you can bet that we’ll be seeing a lot more of these all-clown screenings happening. And it won’t end with It, either, as Warner Bros. and New Line have already issued the go-ahead for It: Chapter 2.

A 2019 release is said to be the target, and while we don’t have any other details on the sequel just yet, it’ll certainly be interesting to watch how high It climbs (floats?) at the box office over the next few weeks. If we had to guess though, Pennywise will continue to reign supreme for quite a while.
