It was only a matter of time, wasn’t it?

With principal photography on Universal sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom now done and dusted, we’re hearing that the film’s first trailer is expected online in November. Fansite Jurassic Outpost has the scoop, noting that retailers and various licensing partners have received word of Universal’s impending trailer launch, which will likely occur in and around Thanksgiving to attract as many eyeballs as possible.

If true, that reveal will take place a full seven months before Fallen Kingdom‘s prime summer release date (June 22nd, 2018), and it’s also worth bearing in mind that Universal chose a similar launch window for Jurassic World‘s inaugural trailer three years ago. And we all know how that one turned out.

Headed up by erstwhile Star Wars director Colin Trevorrow (Episode IX), the franchise rebirth stormed to $1.6 billion worldwide, which only lumps more pressure on the genetically modified shoulders of Jurassic World 2. Word is Universal and Juan Antonio Bayona’s monstrous sequel will take the notion of man-made dinos to a whole new level, possibly introducing a T-rex/raptor hybrid. Think Indominus, only bigger and badder.

Granted, Jurassic Outpost’s report didn’t disclose an exact release date for said sizzle reel, but more information will surely begin to emerge over the coming weeks. ‘Tis the season for blockbuster trailers, after all, with Warner Bros. being the latest to showcase its 2018 tentpole, Tomb Raider.

For Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, though, Universal has tapped a host of new recruits including Sherlock actor Toby Jones, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith and Rafe Spall. It’ll see a release on June 22nd, 2018, and it’s believed a third and perhaps final installment in the rebooted franchise is also on the way. 2021, perhaps? Either way, there’s still life in the ol’ dino yet.
