Casting Call Suggests Ant-Man And The Wasp Will Include An ’80s Flashback

Central Casting Georgia has relayed a new piece of intel that suggests Ant-Man and the Wasp will include an '80s flashback scene.

Forget Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne for just a moment, as it looks as though Ant-Man and the Wasp will include an ’80s flashback scene featuring the original duo, played here by Michael Douglas and MCU newbie Michelle Pfeiffer.

Word comes by way of Central Casting Georgia (via ComicBook.com), after a casting call for “Cherry Blue,” the production title Ant-Man 2 is operating under, advertised for “men and women of all ages who can portray Argentinean locals for a park scene taking place in 1987.” Does this mean a trip to South America is on the cards come 2018?

The fact that CCG’s findings suggest Ant-Man and the Wasp will circle back to 1987 leads us to believe that Peyton Reed’s sequel will explore the formative years of Janet van Dyne (Pfeiffer) before she vanishes into the Quantum Realm, never to be seen again. Perhaps we’ll even get to see that fateful event through the eyes of the original Wasp?

Either way, there’s a very good chance that Marvel’s special effects team will incorporate some form of de-ageing process similar to that seen in Ant-Man‘s prologue, in which a young Michael Douglas essentially turns his back on S.H.I.E.L.D. in 1989.

In related news, there have been rumblings that Peyton Reed’s pint-sized sequel will carve out extra room for Giant-Man, while leaked set photos have taken us up close and personal with Ghost, the elusive villain to be played by Hannah John-Kamen, star of Tomb Raider and Ready Player One.

Ant-Man and the Wasp, meanwhile, makes a beeline for theaters on July 6th, 2018. Closer to home, Thor: Ragnarok will become the next entry in Marvel’s ever-evolving cinematic universe on November 3rd of this year, and it’ll seemingly herald the “fight of the century” between Hulk and the God of Thunder.
