Stranger Things Promo Reveals Updated Season 2 Titles

A new promo video for Stranger Things season 2 has given us most of the episode titles for the new run. If you've been following the updates about the hit Netflix show over the past few months, you might recall that these were already revealed. However, due to some keen fans dissecting the meaning of the titles far too well, showrunners the Duffer brothers have elected to swap the episode names around in a bid to keep some of the secrets under wrap.

A new promo video for Stranger Things season 2 has given us most of the episode titles for the new run. If you’ve been following the updates about the hit Netflix show over the past few months, you might recall that these were already revealed. However, due to some keen fans dissecting the meaning of the titles far too well, showrunners the Duffer brothers have elected to swap the episode names around in a bid to keep some of the secrets under wrap.

Take a look at the promo below, via the official Stranger Things Twitter feed:

The Stranger Things marketing department have often taken the quirky, eccentric route and even this simple reveal about the new titles continues in that style. The brief 35-second video illustrates each one with a different graphic, be it an old-fashioned video game player scoreboard, some jack o’ lanterns or a monstrous pencil drawing. The video also stops short of giving us the names of chapters 7 through 9, with the spoilers retained by way of a clawed hand tearing through the wallpaper. Presumably, these titles are just too revealing to be unveiled at this stage.

The new monikers are as follows: Chapter 1 is “Madmax,” Chapter 2 is “Trick or Treat Freak”, “The Pollywog” is Chapter 3, “Will the Wise” is Chapter 4, Chapter 5 is “Dig Dug” and Chapter 6 is “The Spy.” Of these, only “Madmax” is the same as the first lot of titles. Interestingly, “The Pollywog” was originally Chapter 6.

The disregarded titles were “The Boy Who Came Back To Life,” “The Pumpkin Patch,” “The Palace” and “The Storm.” Chapters 7-9 were revealed in the last announcement as “The Secret Cabin,” “The Brain” and “The Lost Brother,” but we can assume that these have been removed now, hence the newfound secrecy surrounding the final episodes.

It’s great that the Duffer brothers have engaged with the fans in this way, as few other TV shows would change around the details of their work just to make the game of guessing what’s going to happen more fun for the viewers. It’s this sense of fun, intrigue and respect for the fans’ intelligence though that’ll no doubt make Stranger Things season 2 a must-see event when it arrives on Netflix on October 27th.
