The lightsaber, an elegant weapon for a more civilized age, has been a cornerstone of the Star Wars universe ever since George Lucas first introduced moviegoers to that iconic galaxy far, far away in ’77.

It’s a legacy that continued through the release of The Force Awakens, too, which reached its conclusion just as Daisy Ridley’s Rey delivered her lightsaber to its rightful owner: Luke Skywalker. Mark Hamill’s Jedi Master spent much of J.J. Abrams’ franchise reboot in a self-imposed exile, and we understand that absence will have huge ramifications for Luke’s budding relationship with Rey come December. She’s the student to his all-powerful master, essentially, and though he believes it’s time for the Jedi to end (!), it appears as though a fair portion of Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be devoted to Rey’s intense training regime aboard Ahch-To, the far-flung planet that has become Luke’s home away from home since Return of the Jedi.

But what about the chances of Hamill wielding a lightsaber in Rian Johnson’s hotly-anticipated blockbuster? Technically, it’s nigh on certain that the Star Wars veteran will hold a ‘saber at some point, given that The Force Awakens ended with Rey reaching out to return her weapon to its rightful owner. As for the chances of Luke calling on his old skills, though – well, that remains unknown, but a new Mondo pint glass from the Alamo Drafthouse might just have given us the answer. Check it out in the gallery below.

Now, before you start getting all excited, keep in mind that this is just promotional material and doesn’t necessarily confirm that the Jedi will indeed wield his iconic weapon. It does seem likely, though, and this new glass is yet even more fuel to add to the fire, which is already burning quite bright.

It’s also important to note that this image here could just mean that Luke will use the lightsaber but not in a fight. For instance, he could be using it to train Rey. Then again, given the reports we’ve heard about that scene on Ahch-To where he comes under attack from Kylo and the Knights of Ren, everything would seem to point towards him calling on those skills of his.

One way or another, all will be revealed when Star Wars: The Last Jedi blasts into theatres on December 15th. It’s currently tracking for a massive opening weekend ($215 million), too, even if it’s poised to fall just short of J.J. Abrams’ franchise reboot.
