Kevin Spacey Comes Out As Gay After Sexual Advance Allegation

Earlier today, Star Trek: Discovery's Anthony Rapp went on the record to reveal that when he was 14, Kevin Spacey made a sexual advance on him at a party that he was hosting. According to Rapp, the House of Cards star, who was drunk at the time, picked him up and laid him out on the bed, pressing himself on top of the fourteen-year-old until Rapp was able to "squirm his way out." From there, nothing else happened, as he left the party at that point and the two haven't spoken since.

Earlier today, Star Trek: Discovery‘s Anthony Rapp went on the record to reveal that when he was 14, Kevin Spacey made a sexual advance on him at a party that he was hosting. According to Rapp, the House of Cards star, who was drunk at the time, picked him up and laid him out on the bed, pressing himself on top of the fourteen-year-old until Rapp was able to “squirm his way out.” From there, nothing else happened, as he left the party at that point and the two haven’t spoken since.

Of course, this allegation prompted a response from Spacey, who took to Twitter to give his side of the story. Though he said he was horrified to hear it, the actor has no recollection of the event but still offered up an apology.

I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I’m beyond horrified to hear his story. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.

Not only that, but he also came out as homosexual – which has been long suspected – revealing that he lives as a gay man.

This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy. As those closest to me know, in my life I have had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior.

At the moment, it’s unclear if anything will actually come from this allegation. Though Kevin Spacey has apologized, blaming his actions on alcohol isn’t a legitimate excuse and then, of course, there’s the issue of why a 14-year-old was at his party in the first place.

Rapp hasn’t responded to the A-lister’s Tweet just yet, but we’ll be sure to bring you more as this story continues to develop.
