Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer Screenshots Take Us Inside Snoke’s Lair

Following up on last night's stunning teaser, a host of screenshots for Star Wars: The Last Jedi have surfaced onto the interwebs.

Luke Skywalker stepping inside the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon – after years spent in exile, no less – is enough to send chills down our spines, and that’s exactly what transpired in last night’s stunning TV spot for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Rumor has it that Rian Johnson’s long-anticipated sequel picks up exactly where The Force Awakens left off, when Rey finally made contact with the Jedi Master in order to return his long-lost lightsaber. It’s one that seemingly called out to Rey from the bowels of Maz Kanata’s castle, triggering a series of flashbacks to Luke’s ravaged Jedi Academy and the ominous Knights of Ren, so there’s no telling how powerful Daisy Ridley’s Force-user really is.

Let’s not forget that Rey’s breathtaking abilities almost left Luke speechless in last month’s trailer (“I’ve seen this raw strength once before. It didn’t scare me enough then; it does now”), so it’ll be fascinating to watch that master-apprentice dynamic unfold in six weeks’ time.

Now, as the excitement for The Last Jedi begins to reach a fever-pitch, Collider has relayed a handful of trailer screenshots pulled from last night’s TV spot:

From the Falcon swooping down to battle the First Order on Crait to Snoke’s mysterious lair, there are plenty of story clues littered across this new batch of photos. There’s also a shot of Carrie Fisher’s Leia, who will soon be making her last appearance in the saga. And according to Rian Johnson, we’ll all be reaching for the tissues next month.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been penciled in for a global release on December 15th, though you may want to check with your local theater to ensure they’re not part of the recent boycott. Looking further afield, it seems the Powers That Be over at Lucasfilm are already prepared for another decade of Star Wars beyond the release of Episode IX in 2019. The possibilities are endless, it seems, so we may get that Boba Fett spinoff after all.
