Another Batch Of Avengers 4 Set Photos Continue To Tease Alleged Flashback

Earth's Mightiest Heroes appear to be gearing up for an unexpected flashback scene in the latest batch of set photos for Avengers 4.

“The Avengers. That’s what we call ourselves; we’re sort of like a team. ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ type thing.”

You know the scene; it’s the one in which Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark is taunting Loki, God of Mischief, as he desperately tries to buy more time for his fellow Avengers. And if Just Jared’s recent set photos are any indication, Avengers 4 will feature a fairly sizeable flashback to the Battle of New York, when the biggest problem facing Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was a relentless alien race known as the Chitauri. Oh, and shawarma. Simpler times, really.

As you’ll see in the gallery below, Just Jared has captured Thor sporting his luscious blonde locks, which were abruptly removed during the beginning of Ragnarok. There’s also a close-up of Stark dressed in a Black Sabbath t-shirt – in fact, it appears to be the same one RDJ’s genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist wore while confronting Loki back in 2012.

Now for the million-dollar question: whats’s the context of this scene? Could it be that Joe and Anthony Russo’s 2019 tentpole will flip the tables and include time travel via Doctor Strange? Or is this more to do with the Tesseract and how it filters into Thanos’ masterplan? We’ll leave that one to you.

One way or another, it’s been a busy day in the Avengers camp, what with rumblings of a potential S.H.I.E.L.D. resurgence occurring on the streets of Atlanta. File that one in the overstuffed rumor cabinet for now, but it’s worth keeping in mind that both Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) have been linked with bit parts.

All will be revealed once Avengers 4 descends into theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
