Will Daryl And Carol Ever Get Together On The Walking Dead?

Something that The Walking Dead fans have been invested in for most of the show's eight season run is the connection between Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier. The pair of survivors first bonded back in season 2, when Daryl tirelessly searched for Carol's missing daughter Sophia. Despite the call for them to develop a romance, though, TWD has mostly kept them apart in recent seasons, with Carol growing closer to King Ezekiel instead.

On a recent installment of Talking Dead, Norman Reedus was asked by a fan how he thinks Daryl feels about this, and responded by saying that his character is “unphased by that” and then went on to discuss whether Carol and Daryl could ever get together on the show.

“Yeah, I’m not against it, to be honest. You just never know with this show, what they’re gonna do. I love Melissa, more than Daryl loves Carol, even. Never say never.”

It’s far from a confirmation, then, but Reedus clearly thinks it could be on the cards at some point in the future. Of course, for a Daryl/Carol romance to take off, the tie between the latter and Ezekiel would have to be addressed first. Which, according to Khary Payton and Melissa McBride, will happen throughout season 8.

“I mean, he clearly likes her,” Payton previously explained. “He clearly has a thing for Carol. Now the question is, it takes two to tango, man. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, that Carol is a tough nut to crack.”

“I think she totally appreciates him and she’s trying to be standoffish because it hurts,” McBride added. “It hurts to get close to people. When you get close to people, you have to fight for them. So she’s trying to maintain distance with anyone until she can resolve this gobbledy-doo in her head one way or another about having to kill.”

Either way, Carol’s love life is not going to run smoothly. It’s almost like a zombie apocalypse isn’t the best environment for romance. Who would’ve thought?
