Ghostface May Target Trick Or Treaters In MTV’s Scream Reboot

Say what you want about MTV’s television reboot of the Scream franchise, but it made for one hell of a ride, often getting darker and more disturbing than the Wes Craven films ever did. But even after turning in an incredible second season, declining ratings became impossible to overlook, though we could at least find some consolation in the fact that it’d been renewed for a third season to consist of six episodes. Needless to say, that’d provide ample time to wrap up some notably huge dangling threads.

Or so we thought.

In a bizarre turn of events, the network opted to completely scrap two years’ worth of storytelling, handily pissing off the entire fan base. As it so happens, they’re moving forward with a re-reboot helmed by new showrunners that also features an entirely new cast, which boasts Keke Palmer (Scream Queens), RJ Cyler (I’m Dying Up Here), Giorgia Whigham (13 Reasons Why), Jessica Sula (Recovery Road), rapper Tyga (aka Michael Ray Stevenson), C.J. Wallace and Giullian Yao Gioiello (Julie’s Greenroom).

Still, there are positives to consider, such as the return of the iconic Ghostface mask. Organically, this’ll give way to an episode that’s soon to film, which is appropriately titled “Trick or Treat.” Likewise, the casting department is currently looking for extras in the Atlanta, Georgia area that are “Caucasian-looking 7-12-year-olds to portray trick or treating kids in an upscale suburban neighborhood.”

Now, it’s important to note that generic and non-trademarked costumes are desired, such as “Angel, Witch, Monster, Cowboy/Cowgirl, Police, Doll, Cat, etc.” So, even if you own a bootleg Sonic the Hedgehog costume that was dubbed “Blue Speed Mouse,” we’re guessing that won’t be welcome.

Obviously, this casting call has caused some to wonder if the new killer will be targeting trick or treaters, which is possible, but it could just be in an effort to set the stage for the episode in question. Plus, it’d give Ghostface the opportunity to blend in with crowds while escaping the scene of their latest murder.

Scream will return sometime in March 2018, with all six episodes to be aired as part of a three-night event.
