Rip Hunter Returns In Pivotal New Legends Of Tomorrow Clip

If you've been keeping up with Legends of Tomorrow this season, then you're well aware of how it's been a time for change. Not only have the crew of the Waverider had to deal with displaced anachronisms for the past few weeks, but they've had to do it without the aid of their former captain, Rip Hunter.

If you’ve been keeping up with Legends of Tomorrow this season, then you’re well aware of how it’s been a time for change. Not only have the crew of the Waverider had to deal with displaced anachronisms for the past few weeks, but they’ve had to do it without the aid of their former captain, Rip Hunter.

Obviously, that void has been filled by Sara Lance/the White Canary just as it was for a good portion of season 2, but there’s been a twist of sorts that’s come in the form of Rip actually working against his former teammates. You see, it became hard for him to ignore their previous mistakes, thus prompting him to form the Time Bureau.

But as is the case with any form of bureaucracy, petty politics and egos can often get in the way of what needs to be accomplished – and that’s what’s now leading Rip right back to Sara and the rest of the gang. Not surprisingly, this has everything to do with the emerging threat that is Mallus – recently revealed to be voiced by the one and only John Noble – who may very well end up being the greatest big bad our heroes have faced thus far.

In this newly released clip, Hunter promises to call off the dogs as it were, if indeed the Legends will comply and aid in the fight against Mallus. From what we can tell, this may set the stage for the remainder of the season, because it’s going to take a combined effort to defeat someone who can bring powerful villains back from the dead.

HELPING ONE OF THEIR OWN — When Nate (Nick Zano) thinks he has found a pattern to the anachronisms, it leads the Legends to London in 1897 to hunt down a time-traveling vampire. When they arrive in London, they run into Rip (guest star Arthur Darvill), but not everyone welcomes him back so quickly, leaving Sara (Caity Lotz) to make a tough choice in the end. Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) tries to connect with Zari (Tala Ashe), but she is still struggling with being part of the team. Meanwhile, Stein (Victor Garber) discovers what Ray (Brandon Routh) and Jax (Franz Drameh) are up to and is not entirely pleased. Dominic Purcell also stars. Alexandra La Roche directed the episode written by Grainne Godfree & Morgan Faust (#305). Original airdate 11/07/2017.

Legends of Tomorrow airs on Tuesday nights on The CW.
