New Merch Offers First Peek At Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Porglets

Japanese merchandise for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has revealed what appears to be our first look at the furry baby porglets.

The Internet is not ready for The Last Jedi‘s fuzzy baby porglets.

Six weeks out from D-day, Star Wars News Net has today spotted a new line of Japanese merchandise featuring all of the sequel’s key players: Luke Skywalker, Rey, Leia, Kylo Ren, BB-8 and a slew of heavily-armed Stormtroopers. But amid all of those famous Star Wars characters is a never-before-seen image of three baby porgs, whose faces sit upturned toward their nearby parent.

Nestled together in their makeshift home, these flightless little avians are part of the Ahch-To food chain, and subsequent reports have revealed the biological link between porgs and the caretakers, an ancient alien species that also resides on Luke’s far-flung (and temporary!) home.

Meanwhile, it seems these figurines will be exclusive to Japan, as the accompanying website doesn’t mention anything about pricing and/or a release date. That’s a little disappointing, but if nothing else, this latest info dump peels back another layer of The Last Jedi.

Because let’s face it: Rian Johnson’s sequel has been shrouded in secrecy from the get-go. That’ll continue long after release, too, given Star Wars: The Last Jedi won’t answer all of our burning questions come December – hardly surprising, given Lucasfilm will likely keep one or two secrets for the release of Episode IX in 2019.

In light of Colin Trevorrow’s departure, the Powers That Be have since turned to J.J. Abrams to close out the current Star Wars trilogy – fitting, really, given he resurrected a dormant giant with The Force Awakens two years ago. And don’t be fooled into thinking that Lucasfilm has any intention of taking the foot off the pedal, as Kathleen Kennedy recently teased another decade of Star Wars.

But first comes the launch of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15th, by which point the porgs (and the porglets!) will be on the verge of becoming a merchandise sensation.
