Another Poster For Star Wars: The Last Jedi Points To A Big Duel

Buried in the Dolby Cinemas poster for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a fleeting tease of the duel between Rey and Luke Skywalker.

One month out from launch, and the promo material for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is coming in thick and fast.

This week alone, we’ve caught wind of a new international trailer, two kick-ass TV spots, four big-name cameos, and story clues weaned from the campaign of Star Wars Battlefront II. And yes, the single-player narrative of EA and DICE’s licensed shooter, one which largely takes place between the events of Jedi and The Force Awakens, is considered canon, which may open up a whole new can of worms when it comes Rian Johnson’s sequel.

And just as we were beginning to think that Lucasfilm had unleashed the final blood-red poster for The Last Jedi, a new one has emerged via Dolby Cinemas. First spotted by ComicBook.com, this one-sheet is very much in keeping with the Star Wars composition – important characters up top, with droids and other supporting players relegated to the bottom – but peer close enough and you’ll notice a duel between Rey and Luke Skywalker on Ahch-To.

It’s by no means one to stop the presses, nor is it likely to bring a sense of closure to all those unanswered questions, but this fleeting tease is another pointed reminder that the relationship between Rey and Luke will be strained at best. And though it appears to be a lightsaber duel at first glance, you’ll notice that Daisy Ridley’s heroine, one who will soon be tortured (and tested?) at the hands of Supreme Leader Snoke, is wielding her staff from The Force Awakens.

Besides, with so many false reports and hogwash swirling around Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we’d be better off keeping our excitement in check until the film arrives next month – December 15th, to be specific.
