Zack Snyder’s Secret Justice League Cameo Has Been Revealed

Justice League might not be the hit that Warner Bros. were no doubt hoping it would be, but there really is much for fans to love in the movie - no one can deny that. As it brings together six of the DC universe's biggest names, there's a lot of history to draw from and, while it doesn't have much time to do that in its surprisingly lean 120 minute runtime, it tries its best to call back to a few classic comic book arcs and characters, as well as paying homage to previous DC pics that have come before.

It’s not only the easter eggs that fans need to be on the lookout for, though, as the film is also stuffed full of cameos, including one from its director: Zack Snyder. Yes, as he so often does, Snyder snuck himself into the movie for a very brief appearance, and it’s unlikely that many people caught it as it truly is a minor one. Then again, his cameos always are. Remember when only his hands appeared in that Batman V Superman shot?

Anyways, when it comes to Justice League, cinematographer Fabian Wagner has revealed in a recent interview that Zack can be seen in a brief shot sitting in a cafe. He didn’t mention when in the movie this occurs or give any further details, but next time you sit down to watch the pic, be sure to keep your eyes peeled.

As for Wagner himself, he unfortunately wasn’t given the chance to cameo, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t have an idea in mind for how it could have played out were it to happen:

“I should have gotten into the bat suit like on a wide shot when he’s just in the background,” Wagner said.

Finally, the cinematographer also touched on his favorite scene in the movie, saying the following:

“My favourite set was probably the top of the roof when Gordon switches on the Bat light for the first time. That was a great set and a cool scene with Batman being up on the gargoyles. That was one of my favourite shots to do just because I love Batman.

That was like a real true Batman moment. I just felt like a little kid on that set with the Bat light. Iceland was a great location, that’s where we finished the shoot. We were just in a really remote part of the island with a beautiful landscape. That was a really fun week to shoot out there. I just enjoyed every day really, I came to set every day thinking this crazy, I can’t believe I’m doing this. Every day was fun.”

Seven days after its initial release, and Justice League is said to be staring down the face of a $50m-$100m loss. Forbes did the number crunching earlier this week and revealed that Warner’s DC epic must collect $600 million in ticket sales alone if it’s to make it into the black – JL‘s production budget ballooned past $250m, no thanks to Joss Whedon’s extensive reshoots. That will certainly cast a big shadow over the DCEU, whose next film, Aquaman, is poised to hit theaters on December 21st, 2018.
