And so, that has led to a number of ‘foolproof’ theories bouncing around the Internet – from Tony Stark’s ‘secret’ Infinity Stone to the Mad Titan and everything in between, there’s really no end to the Infinity War rabbit hole. So grab your tinfoil hats and prepare to indulge in some speculation, for Comic Book Resources has pieced together a new rumor concerning Spider-Man and, more specifically, his suit of choice leading up to Avengers: Infinity War.

Indeed, while many had assumed that Peter Parker’s souped-up armor was inspired by the famous Iron Spider, CBR is alleging that Infinity War borrowed design cues from Spider-Man: Worldwide, the comic book penned by Dan Slott and artist Giuseppe Camuncoli. For the sake of comparison, we’ve included a close-up of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man as he appears in Avengers: Infinity War along with an image pulled from the pages of Worldwide:

The blue flourescent eyeslits and oversized logo certainly match up, but it’s impossible to know for sure whether the Russo Brothers turned to Worldwide during the creation of Infinity War. Assuming they did, it could open up a whole new arc for Peter Parker as he assumes the mantle of a global CEO – possibily evern superseding Tony Stark along the way. Chalk that up as innocent conjecture for now, though.

Once Black Panther has its time in the sun on February 16th, Marvel will begin pulling together its costumed crusaders for what is undoubtedly the biggest MCU movie to date. Yes, there’s an Infinity War on the horizon, and Joe and Anthony Russo are expected to kick things off on May 4th, 2018, before the so-far untitled Avengers 4 puts a bow on Marvel’s Phase 4 the following year.
