Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds Is All But Ready For The Disney-Fox Deal

As much as the past fifteen years or so have proven to be an embarrassment of riches for geeks and casual moviegoers the world over, the fact remains that several dream meetings between superheroes have yet to occur on the big screen. And what’s doubly maddening is that many of those on fans’ wishlists involve Marvel characters.

You see, while Disney, Marvel’s parent company, lays claim to the cinematic rights to the wealth of their characters, there are numerous others – chief among them being those who reside under the X-Men and Fantastic Four umbrellas – that call Fox home. But, with Disney possibly purchasing Fox as soon as next week, a multitude of fan favorites could soon be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Naturally, one such icon that would be directly impacted by this move is that of Deadpool. Perhaps bracing for the inevitable, Ryan Reynolds, the Merc with a Mouth himself, had this jest to make via Twitter:

While we don’t expect to get a hot tub rendezvous between Wade Wilson and Mickey Mouse set to the tune of “Careless Whisper” anytime soon, such a thing would certainly be funny to see. Still, Reynolds remains unsure of how such a landmark move would impact his franchise.

Truth be told, this is one scenario I was fearing, as I and many others thought Deadpool‘s R-rated shenanigans would have no place in Disney’s family friendly MCU. But since the character has established himself as box office gold, maybe the Mouse House will realize this and let him do his own thing. Time will tell.
