Justice League didn’t do a whole lot right, but it did convince audiences that Ezra Miller is awesome as Barry Allen AKA the Flash. The Fantastic Beasts actor’s unique, highly comic take on the Scarlet Speedster was an instant hit and has made fans even more keen to see Flashpoint.

Ever since the film was announced at last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, though, we haven’t heard any official word on it, meaning we have no idea when it’s going to arrive. However, a hint that Miller himself gave to a fan recently suggests that production on the project is about to get underway – meaning it could be with us sooner than we originally thought.

Twitter user Daniel Eliesen was lucky enough to meet some of the Justice League cast at this weekend’s Ace Comic-Con Long Island, where he asked Miller about Flashpoint. Though the actor wouldn’t spill any juicy details, he did say, “We’re starting it pretty soon, can’t wait.”

Miller’s response supports the flurry of recent info we’ve heard about the movie, with one report even claiming that Warner Bros. has decided to push forward on it directly due to the positive reception to the character in JL.

Speaking of the League, Flashpoint looks to be a kind of backdoor sequel for the team-up movie. As well as Gal Gadot returning as Wonder Woman, evidence suggests it’s going to feature not one, but two Batmen. Jeffrey Dean Morgan continues to tease that he’ll reprise his role as Thomas Wayne from Batman V Superman – this time actually getting to play an alternate version of the Dark Knight – and rumour has it Ben Affleck will turn up as Bruce Wayne. This will likely be his final appearance in the DCEU, too, following all the talk about him being recast for The Batman.

If work on Flashpoint is due to start soon, the studio will need to get its skates on with finding the key personnel to bring it to life. At present, no director is attached, though a script by Joby Harold is said to be complete and if Miller’s correct about the production timeline, then we imagine that WB will settle on someone to helm the pic quite soon. As always, watch this space for more.
