There’s A Good Reason Why Nebula Didn’t Feature In The Infinity War Teaser, According To Karen Gillan

Despite its best efforts, the two-and-a-half-minute teaser trailer for Avengers: Infinity War wasn't able to spotlight all the characters in Joe and Anthony Russo's super-sized sequel. And that's okay – lest Marvel spoil its biggest movie five months ahead of schedule.

Despite its best efforts, the two-and-a-half-minute teaser trailer for Avengers: Infinity War wasn’t able to spotlight all the characters in Joe and Anthony Russo’s super-sized sequel. And that’s okay – lest Marvel spoil its biggest movie five months ahead of schedule.

But because a number of prominent faces (see: Nebula, Hawkeye) got the cold shoulder, fans have been busy drawing up weird and wonderful theories to explain the whereabouts of Infinity War‘s tertiary cast members. And though she doesn’t explicitly address Nebula’s arc in the 2018 blockbuster, Scottish actress and former Doctor Who star Karen Gillan assured viewers that Nebula’s absence “makes sense” when all is said and done. Not only that, but the soon-to-be Jumanji star is fairly confident that her blue-skinned anti-hero will crop up in future trailers.

I wasn’t really disappointed because also it sort of makes sense. It makes sense! How do I say this without giving anything away? It makes sense. I feel like Nebula might be in future trailers.

As for how her Nebula squares off against Thanos, the “ultimate supervillain,” Gillan hinted that Infinity War and its untitled sequel will explore the underlying “daddy issues” between her and the Mad Titan.

Via Radio Times:

It’s gonna be so good! A lot of stuff that we have planted in previous films is going to all come together in quite an explosive way, I would say. Daddy issues will be faced. Thanos is the big bad guy, the ultimate supervillain, so this is the biggest fight that the Avengers will ever have. And being his daughter, Nebula will get entwined in there somehow.

Said to be an “unprecedented cinematic journey 10 years in the making,” Infinity War will get the ball rolling in 2018, before Avengers 4 delivers the second, conclusive chapter in the war against Thanos on May 3rd, 2019.
