The Last Jedi does not feature a post-credits scene – but there is a touching tribute to the late, great Carrie Fisher.

The Star Wars veteran sadly passed away on December, 27th 2016, meaning Leia’s time in the Skywalker saga is coming to a close. And though Fisher’s death had no immediate effect on The Last Jedi story-wise, Rian Johnson and the Lucasfilm sound team called upon some editing tricks – additional dialogue replacement, for instance – to dot the i’s and cross the t’s of what will be Leia’s final appearance.

In an effort to commemorate that cherished legacy, it’s understood Star Wars: The Last Jedi has shipped with a montage dedicated to Fisher and her time in the Skywalker saga, which we imagine will be pretty similar to the one shown at Star Wars Celebration back in April.

So hang around after the credits and you’ll be able to lay eyes on a poignant tribute to Fisher – just don’t hold your breath for any post-credits zingers. This is the Star Wars franchise, after all, and after-movie teasers are typically reserved for the likes of Justice League and Thor: Ragnarok.

Besides, with Solo: A Star Wars Story on the horizon – May 25th, 2018 is the date for your diaries – it won’t be too long before Lucasfilm begins shifting the focus over to its fledgling anthology series, which exists in its own separate bubble away from the core Skywalker saga.

As for Fisher, well, what more is there left to say? Carrie Fisher was Princess Leia – Princess of Alderaan and the real rebel. And we’re fully confident that her memory will be immortalized through the launch of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in two days’ time.
