Wonder Woman is many things to many people – a modern feminist icon, an inspired tale of heroism, Gal Gadot’s launch pad to superstardom…you name it.
It’s also the highest-rated comic book movie of the year, according to Rotten Tomatoes, which placed Wonder Woman in the same bracket as Logan, Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming. But Patty Jenkins’ critically-adorned origins movie reigned supreme in another ranking: Google’s Year in Search for 2017.
And so, after crowning Avengers: Infinity War as the year’s most popular trailer, Google has revealed Wonder Woman to be the most-searched comic book movie of 2017. And we can’t say we’re surprised.
Back in June, the Patty Jenkins-directed period piece took the world by storm with its heartfelt story and instantly likable characters – the chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine was arguably worth the price of admission alone – while word of mouth and general online buzz undoubtedly had a big impact on Wonder Woman‘s social rankings.
Indeed, as you’ll see below, the superhero spinoff was beaten out by another Warner Bros. property – and no, we’re not referring to Justice League, which placed fourth in Google’s year-end rankings. Instead, Wonder Woman was pipped at the post by It, the R-rated sensation that launched a million nightmares back in September.

Coming out of her role in Justice League, Diana Prince will now begin dusting herself down in anticipation of the so-far untitled Wonder Woman sequel. It’s currently on course for a release in November of 2019 – six weeks earlier than initially planned.
Pennywise, on the other hand, will also stage his second coming in two years’ time, when the conclusive Chapter Two haunts theaters.
