New Report Claims To Have Identified All The Characters That Survive Avengers: Infinity War

Will any of Earth's Mightiest Heroes walk out of Infinity War alive? The answers to that question is a resounding 'yes', according to ComicBook.com.

Who lives, who dies?

That’s the million-dollar question currently lingering over Avengers: Infinity War, Joe and Anthony Russo’s crossover that’s not so much a movie as it is a cinematic event. It’s also the first chapter in a two-part story, given the so-far untitled Avengers 4 is poised to put a bow on the whole Thanos saga – along with the current iteration of the MCU, if Kevin Feige is to be believed – come 2019.

And when it does, Marvel’s character roster will be dramatically different to the one that’s helped define the Marvel Cinematic Universe hitherto. But killing off prominent heroes is no bad thing, as it helps raise the stakes for what is undoubtedly the studio’s biggest MCU movie yet.

Should that hold true, we’re inclined to believe that Avengers: Infinity War will kill off a number of high-profile figures – something terrible occurs in the opening five minutes, so there’s that – but as for who survives, ComicBook.com has compiled a list this week of who’s likely to make it out alive.

It could wind up being complete hogwash, of course, as Avengers 4 is just now beginning to wrap up production. But by combing over all of the sequel’s many videos and on-set photos, CB is alleging that the following will live to see another day:

  • Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)
  • Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen)
  • Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)
  • Vision (Paul Bettany)
  • Hawkeye/Ronin (Jeremy Renner)
  • Falcon (Anthony Mackie)
  • Wasp (Evangeline Lilly)
  • Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.)
  • Ant-Man (Paul Rudd)
  • War Machine (Don Cheadle)
  • Thor (Chris Hemsworth)
  • Captain America (Chris Evans)
  • Captain Marvel (Brie Larson)
  • Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan)
  • Gamora (Zoe Saldana)
  • Nebula (Karen Gillan)
  • Pepper Potts (Gwyenth Paltrow)

Conspicuous by their absence? Drax the Destroyer and, well, the entire Guardians crew – barring Gamora – which really calls this report into question. Besides, James Gunn is already hard at work drafting up a screenplay for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, so we can’t imagine Marvel is about to kill off its leading space bandits anytime soon.

Not to mention that Spider-Man isn’t included here either, and as mentioned above, he’ll most definitely be swinging his way into Phase 4. As such, it stands to reason that CB isn’t implying that the individuals left off their list will die, only that they haven’t yet been spotted filming Avengers 4.

Regardless, you can expect Avengers: Infinity War to bring the hype on May 4th, 2018, with its currently untitled sequel poised to follow on May 3rd, 2019.
