Ant-Man And The Wasp Head Into Battle On New Promo Art

Edgar Wright being kicked off Ant-Man was undoubtedly a huge blow to fans, but I think most can agree that Peyton Reed did a pretty good job with it, delivering a fun, humorous and perfectly enjoyable MCU outing. So, while it’s not exactly top of my list of films to see in 2018, I’m still paying close attention to what’s happening in Ant-Man and the Wasp. With Avengers: Infinity War releasing just a couple of months prior, the pic is being overshadowed a bit in terms of hype, but now things sound as if they’re finally gearing up.

Though it remains unconfirmed, we’ve already heard that the sequel will begin with Scott Lang on house arrest. Still reeling from the events of Civil War – remember, just like Spider-Man: Homecoming before it, Ant-Man 2 will seemingly take place in the fallout of Marvel’s 2016 crossover – Paul Rudd’s hero is said to be enjoying more time with his daughter Cassie, though is quickly pulled back into the fray once he catches wind of Hope and Hank’s new mission.

Sounds like it’ll be another thrilling adventure for the titular hero, and thanks to a new Marvel calendar, we’ve now got another look at the two main characters: Ant-Man and the Wasp. Granted, there’s not much to see here, but it’s a cool shot of the dynamic duo heading into action, giving us a glimpse of their costumes and teasing what’s to come.

Aside from Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly, who are all returning for more, Ant-Man and the Wasp has fleshed out its core cast with a raft of big-name additions, including John Wick star Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, along with Tomb Raider duo Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost) and Walton Goggins, and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo. But perhaps most exciting of all is the inclusion of Murder On the Orient Express actress Michelle Pfeiffer, who has signed on to play the long-lost Janet van Dyne.

Said to retain the zany humor and spectacular (and miniature!) visuals that ensured the original became a breakout success, Ant-Man and the Wasp has been positioned as Marvel’s follow-up act to Avengers: Infinity War and opens on July 6th, 2018.
