Blumhouse Does It Again With Gruesome First Truth Or Dare Trailer

Even if some of their films haven't been your cup of tea, none of us can deny the force in the industry that Blumhouse Productions has become. In the past decade or so, they've enthralled audiences with new franchises such as Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Ouija and, my personal favorite, Sinister, to name but a few.

Even if some of their films haven’t been your cup of tea, none of us can deny the force in the industry that Blumhouse Productions has become. But, now that 2018 is officially underway, Blumhouse is bent on finding another way to make moviegoers mess the seat of their trousers, this time placing their chips on Truth or Dare. And, if you were wondering what’s behind this supernatural thriller, it’s basically, “a harmless game of ‘Truth or Dare’ among friends turns deadly when someone—or something—begins to punish those who tell a lie—or refuse the dare.”

Starring Lucy Hale and Tyler Posey, the film has already drawn comparisons to fan favorites such as Final Destination and It Follows, but the first trailer to be released shows us that director Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) has a few aces up his sleeve, and this won’t be your simple by-the-numbers affair. Really, if Blumhouse has succeeded in anything, it’s that they can really surprise you before the credits roll.

Personally, I couldn’t help but recall the video game Until Dawn due to the nature of a group of young people in a remote area engaging in a game that one guy knows is about to go horribly awry, but that’s where the similarities probably end. Still, this flick may give Justice League a run for its money when it comes to having the goofiest CGI smile in recent memory.

Truth or Dare opens in theaters on April 27.
