Chris Hemsworth Wants To See Thor And Deadpool Team Up

If anyone's an authority on superhero comedies, it's Ryan Reynolds, whose Deadpool succeeded critically and commercially beyond everyone's wildest dreams back in 2016. But since November, the film's had some serious competition for the funniest comic book movie out there. We're talking of course about Thor: Ragnarok, which was a candy floss light breath of fresh air in comparison to the self-serious, po-faced Justice League.

If anyone’s an authority on superhero comedies, it’s Ryan Reynolds, whose Deadpool succeeded critically and commercially beyond everyone’s wildest dreams back in 2016. But since November, the film’s had some serious competition for the funniest comic book movie out there. We’re talking of course about Thor: Ragnarok, which was a candy floss light breath of fresh air in comparison to the month’s other CBM release, the self-serious, po-faced Justice League.

Given that both characters have now shown a penchant for humor, fans have begun putting forth the idea of some kind of team up between the Merc with a Mouth and the God of Thunder – and it seems Chris Hemsworth is on board, too. Speaking to Cinema Blend in a recent interview to promote 12 Strong, he revealed how excited he was about the recent Disney/Fox deal, saying:

“Oh, [it’s] awesome. And I hope they get to do it, because contractually a lot of us have now kind of done our run. But to interact… and I’ve said that a while ago about, ‘Imagine interacting with Wolverine or all the different characters from X-Men’… Deadpool and Thor would be pretty cool. The most exciting thing about Avengers was just being on set as Thor with the Guardians, or… I was as much a fan to see that kick off as anyone else.”

Of course, after the Disney/Fox merger, Wade Wilson is now under the control of the House of Mouse, so it’s entirely possible that a future MCU film could see Deadpool spending some quality time in the company of Thor. They’d certainly be a great match – as mentioned above – and we’d love to see the kind of chemistry Hemsworth and Reynolds could produce together on the big screen.

Then again, it’s important to note that while the latter likely has many years ahead of him in the spandex suit, the Aussie actor probably won’t be around the Marvel Cinematic Universe for much longer. Like he says here, his contract is now coming to an end and with the studio remaining tight-lipped about plans for Phase 4, it’s unknown which of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be present for the eventual X-Men crossover.

Still, it’s nice to see that Chris Hemsworth is just as excited as the fans are about all of this and with any luck, we’ll get to see Thor cross paths with Deadpool one day.
