Amid reports that Disney and Lucasfilm have earmarked Solo: A Star Wars Story‘s trailer for Friday, January 12th, writer-director Ron Howard has now taken to Twitter to confirm that it “won’t be long” before we clock eyes on Alden Ehrenreich as the galaxy’s greatest smuggler.

Flanked by Emilia Clarke and Donald Glover as the ice-cool Lando Calrissian, Ehrenreich has been tasked with delivering a younger version of Han Solo, arguably one of the greatest Star Wars characters of all time – no pressure, then. And let’s face it, part of Solo’s charm was that his backstory largely remained under wraps throughout Lucasfilm’s original trilogy, so we can’t help but fear that Howard and Co. are at risk of ruining – or at the very least tarnishing – that sense of mystery.

But let’s reserve any judgment until Disney is ready to launch that first-look trailer, shall we? Speaking of which, it’s seemingly right around the corner, if Ron Howard’s latest tweet is any indication.

In response to one curious fan, Howard told his followers that it “won’t be long” before Solo’s trailer is released into the wild, particularly now that Star Wars: The Last Jedi has conquered the worldwide box office – $1.2 billion, last we checked.

He’s the wry, cocky scoundrel we all know and love, and if there’s one quote that perfectly captures the character of Han Solo, it’s this one from Harrison Ford in A New Hope:

Kid, I’ve flown from one side of the galaxy to the other. I’ve seen a lot of strange stuff, but I’ve never seen anything to make me believe there’s one all-powerful force controlling everything. There’s no mystical energy field that controls my destiny.

Perhaps this innate cynicism will factor into the story of Solo: A Star Wars Story? We’ll find out on May 25th. And keep it locked to WGTC over the coming days, as we’ll have full coverage of the spinoff’s inaugural teaser the moment it drops.
