Could Billy Batson and Diana Prince wind up sharing the screen in Warner’s Shazam! movie?

That was a question posed to Zachary Levi during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight (via Collider), in which the former Chuck star previewed David Sandberg’s forthcoming spinoff, which he considers to be a cross between Superman and Big, the Tom Hanks classic.

And despite being left out of Justice League, Levi still believes that Diana of Theymiscra, what with her wisdom and mystifying grace, would be the perfect on-screen buddy for the young, wide-eyed Billy Batson.

Wonder Woman, because she’s awesome. I think getting a cameo from anybody would be super cool, but I just think Gal Gadot is so effervescent. She has such a charm. And she seems like a really cool broad. Like, she was in the Israeli army. She’s a mom. And I’m like, ‘You seem like you’re grounded and cool, and you’re Wonder Woman, and you rock.’ And I think it would be really funny to have the 14-year-old Billy Batson inside of Shazam that’s really awkward around this beautiful Amazonian. I just think that would be really awesome.

Imbued with god-like abilities – Batson’s supercharged alter-ego literally draws his breathtaking power from Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury, hence the title – Shazam is poised to become a massive addition to the fledgling DC Extended Universe, and though he’s restricted by NDAs, Zachary Levi assured fans that the end product will be a “refreshing” take on the fan-favorite character.

I can’t tell you much, as you can probably imagine, but what I can say is I am just out of my mind excited! I get to do my version of Big, basically. It’s like Superman meets Big, and that’s just so fun. I get to be a superhero that’s excited about being a superhero, and I think that’s refreshing. It’s not glum, and like, ‘Oh, I have to save the world again.’ So I think it’s all really gravy.

Shazam! will see a release on April 5th, 2019, meaning it won’t be too much longer before David Sandberg gets the cameras rolling. As for Wonder Woman, she’ll be back on our screens when Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins launch the untitled sequel on November 1st, 2019, which may wind up being a big, big year for the Amazonian.
