Millie Bobby Brown To Play Sherlock’s Sister Enola Homes In New Film Series

Thanks to her brilliant performance as the super-powered Eleven in Netflix’s Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown‘s career is set to go through the roof. Her first big step onto the silver screen will come in the form of her as-yet-unknown role in the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but that’s just the beginning, as Brown has now landed herself the lead in a new planned film franchise.

Deadline is reporting that Legendary Entertainment are developing a movie series based on the Enola Holmes Mysteries books from author Nancy Springer. As you can probably guess from the surname, Enola is the teenage sister of Sherlock Holmes and shares his knack for solving crimes.

Deadline describes the series as follows:

“The book series began with the 2006 title The Case of the Missing Marquess. The series spans six novels, revolving around mysteries investigated by Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes’ much younger sister, Enola, who proves to be a highly capable detective in her own right. The first and fifth books in the series were nominated for Edgar Awards in 2007 and 2010, respectively.”

You can see why Legendary would decide to go ahead with such a project. For one, Sherlock-related films and TV shows have an immediate built-in audience. Not only have we had Benedict Cumberbatch’s BBC TV series and Guy Ritchie’s movies with Robert Downey Jr. in the past ten years, but there’s also a comedy starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly – titled Holmes and Watson  – coming this November.

Likewise, Brown clearly already has enough clout to bank on. She’s internationally known thanks to Stranger Things and it was only a matter of time before she landed herself a major leading movie role. Not to mention the fact that there’s a trend for more female-led blockbusters at the moment, following on from the likes of Wonder Woman and the new Star Wars movies.

Millie Bobby Brown is also set to produce the project through her PCMA Productions banner. There’s no word on a director or release date at the moment, but we’ll keep you updated with more info as it comes in.
