The Walking Dead Season 8 To Feature A “Poetic” End To Daryl’s Story

Via EW, Walking Dead stalwart Norman Reedus promised a poetic end to Daryl's current story ahead of the show returning in February.

If they kill Daryl, we riot.

For years, that’s been the unofficial slogan among The Walking Dead‘s impassioned community, though fans can be quietly confident about the remainder of season 8, as it seems Mr. Dixon still has a few scores to settle.

Word comes by way of Entertainment Weekly, where Norman Reedus himself assured viewers that The Walking Dead season 8 will feature a “poetic” end to Daryl’s current arc. The series mainstay naturally refrained from divulging too much, too soon, but given Daryl’s recent actions, surely it’ll have something to do with his long-brewing rivalry with Dwight? It’s impossible to know for sure, of course, but here’s the latest from Reedus himself:

There’s some really good Daryl stuff coming up with some of the characters he’s been going toe-to-toe with. I love the way some of those stories get wrapped in the end. There’s a real beauty to it. It’s not exactly the way that you think. It wraps up in a very poetic way.

In related news, Reedus is of the belief that The Walking Dead needs to be a little more careful about which characters it decides to kill off – lest it risk ruining the spirit of AMC’s undead flagship. Carl Grimes is one such character to bite the bullet, though Chandler Riggs is confident his outgoing survivor will leave a “long-lasting legacy.”

Meanwhile, here’s that comment from Norman Reedus:

The people that started this show, to me, are the heart of the show. When you lose those key members, it’s such a big blow to the show, and to the fans, and to us that are there. Who’s left? There’s only a few of us left out of all those people. If you wanted to turn it into a totally different show, you get rid of those people. But if you want to hold on to what made the show special, you’ve got to be very careful what you do with those people.

And it’s one that’s set to return on February 25th, at which point the network will deliver the second, conclusive chapter to The Walking Dead season 8. Proving that 2018 is a big, big year for the franchise, AMC has drawn up plans for Morgan Jones to appear in season 4 of Fear The Walking Dead, thereby exploring exactly what happened to the fan-favorite after he and Rick Grimes went their separate ways back in Atlanta.
