The Caped Crusader, Gotham’s Watchful Protector, the World’s Greatest Detective – Bob Kane and Bill Finger’s masked vigilante is known by many names, but in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy, he was most commonly referred to as The Dark Knight. And what a Dark Knight he was.

Former American Pyscho star Christian Bale was officially unveiled as the seventh incarnation of Batman in 2005, and later headlined three of the best comic book movies ever made: Batman BeginsThe Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.

Thanks to Nolan’s penchant for realism, his Batman trilogy will always be held in high regard by fans and now, as we approach the 10th anniversary (this July) of the second film in the series, The Dark Knight, we’re learning that it’s going to be swooping back into theaters. Yes, that’s right, for a few nights only, you’ll be able to catch the masterpiece on the big screen once again.

Showcase Cinemas, “a small East Coast chain with theaters in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut,” will be screening the movie on February 8th and 11th. Exact times have yet to be announced, but if you happen to live nearby, this is an experience that you probably won’t want to miss – regardless of if you saw the film in theaters 10 years ago or not.

After all, this is a movie that practically begs to be seen on the biggest screen possible. Between Wally Pfister’s haunting cinematography and Nolan’s masterful touch, it’s simply dazzling at times. Gotham City positively teems with corruption, and the shadows on screen are so gorgeously dark and deep that it’s easy to get lost in them. The opening bank robbery is a straightforward work of art, gripping in its creativity and assurance, while the rest of the film is packed with brilliantly shot chases and fight sequences, ones which never neglect the symbolic side of its narrative.

Simply put, The Dark Knight is a masterpiece and we’re absolutely thrilled that Showcase Cinemas is taking it upon themselves to celebrate the film’s 10th anniversary by bringing it back into theaters. Not only that, but for those of you who want to relive the trilogy in its entirety, you’ll be happy to know that it’s now available on 4K Blu-ray and can be purchased through Amazon.
